NEWS RELEASE: The award-winning Hannaford Street Silver Band presents its 7th annual FESTIVAL OF BRASS during the April 9, 10 and 11 weekend. This exciting festival of youth, community and the best of professional music-making in joyous collaboration takes place in the Jane Mallett Theatre, St. Lawrence Centre, 27 Front Street East, Toronto.

“RISING STARS”
FRIDAY, APRIL 9th at 7:30 PM. $20
Energetic members of the HSSB’s three Youth Bands perform under the leadership of Anita McAlister and Darryl Eaton. The concert features the Annual Young Artists Solo Competition, and special guests the University of Toronto Percussion Ensemble.
“COMMUNITY SHOWCASE”
SATURDAY, APRIL 10. 12:00 noon – 10:00 PM. $25 (good for the whole day)

The Hannaford Street Silver Band welcomes community bands from across Ontario and beyond, performing a variety of brass band show pieces. Some ensembles will compete for the honour to receive The Hannaford Cup, the HSSB’s annual award for excellence.

12:30 PM - Metropolitan Silver Band
1:15 PM - Buffalo Silver Band
2:00 PM - Orillia Silver Band
2:45 PM - Maple Leaf Brass Band (Ottawa)
3:30 PM - Oakland Brass Band (Detroit)
4:15 PM - Weston Silver Band

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM - Canadian Staff Band rehearsal
8:00 PM - Canadian Staff Band - concert (75 minutes, no intermission)
“TRUMPET SPECTACULAR”
SUNDAY, APRIL 11 at 3:00 PM. $12 to $40
SKF Canada is the Corporate Sponsor for
'Trumpet Spectacular'
Special guest Allan Vizzutti, one of the world’s greatest trumpet soloists, performs a wide-ranging program with the HSSB, and presents the première of a new work, under the baton of conductor Curtis Metcalf. This concert is the grand finale to the Festival of Brass weekend.
